Completed in September 1993, The Biological Sciences Greenhouse Facility houses an insectary, a mosquito rearing facility, two research laboratories, a growth chamber area and a preparation room in addition to 15,120 square feet of teaching and research greenhouse space. The facility primarily serves departments within the College of Arts and Sciences.
The facility supports a USFWS Plant Rescue Center, a Conservatory collection growing more than 1200 tropical and desert plant species, and an Insectary rearing 130 species of insects and arthropods.
The Biological Sciences Greenhouse Facility is located at 332 W. 12th Avenue atop Parking Garage K on the Columbus campus of The Ohio State University. We are adjacent to Aronoff Laboratory and the Wexner Medical Center.
Our main entrance may be accessed at the double glass doors in the breezeway between Aronoff Lab and Parking Garage K. Take the elevator to the 7th floor. The facility may also be accessed through Aronoff Lab at the 3rd floor connector to the elevator and then up to the 7th floor.
The Biological Sciences Greenhouse Conservatory and the Insectary are scheduled for class visits and tours on an as-available basis. Scheduling priority is given to The Ohio State University courses and affiliated groups and events. Reservations are required. Visitors are welcome during regular hours of operation when the facility is not scheduled for course use or tour groups. Please check the Events Calendar for current facility schedule.
Class instructors are encouraged to make scheduling arrangements during the first week of the term or earlier. Outside groups should make reservations at least 15 working days in advance of visit. Facility scheduling is available for 6 months in advance and is subject to change based on course demand and facility staffing. Impromptu guided tours are not available.
